The Austrian sculptor Katharina Mörth designs and creates ‘art in architecture’ projects and large-scale site-specific sculptures for public and private spaces. With experience of installations in over 20 countries, she works with precision at the intersection of architecture, space and identity. .
For durable outdoor sculptures, Katharina Moerth prefers to use robust materials such as Corten steel, cast aluminium, bronze, stone and treated wood. She also incorporates innovative finishes, such as paint or solar technology, to respond to climatic conditions in urban environments.
The Austrian sculptor Katharina Moerth was the first female artist from Austria to take part in the world-renowned open-air exhibition ‘Sculpture by the Sea’ in Sydney, Australia. With the successful presentation of her sculptures at this major international event, she underlined her significance in the field of contemporary large-scale sculpture and represented the Austrian art scene on a global stage.
Katharina Moerth, an academic sculptor originally from Austria (MA in Art, University of Applied Arts Vienna), explores themes of transformation, “shells” and climate change in her work. She uses organic forms, natural materials and thermoactive paint to give tangible form to social and ecological discourses.
Katharina Moerth has been the official representative of AIESM for Austria since 2020. The artist, who worked as a studio assistant to Erwin Wurm in 2013, among other things, is strongly committed to fostering international collaboration in the field of monumental sculpture.

In addition to her major international projects (some of which she undertakes as part of the duo ‘Sculpture Nomad’), Katharina Moerth also creates exclusive gallery-scale works and small series of sculptures in wood, metal and stone in her studio. These sensuous, collectible one-off pieces make her design language accessible for private interiors and gardens.
